30 Days of Devotion

I like the idea of the 30 Days of Devotion , but recognised that it is impractical in my case. Firstly I can’t update the blog daily for a full month… it might be considered grounds for a divorce. Secondly not all of the 30 questions posed by the structure will result in what I consider a reasonable blog post. I don’t want to be posting one line responses as an entire post because it is out of character for me.

In light of this my 30 Days of Devotion will be divided into three blog posts covering ten questions each.

I realise that in doing this I am partially missing the point of the 30 DoD project but doing it this way has meant I have been able to send time considering my responses and putting them into type. It’s allowed me to reflect on each question, in some cases meaning that I have learnt more about my subject and had more to say than if I’d been making snap decisions in order to get the daily post out.

30 Days of Devotion – Pan

Welcome to my first set of posts devoted to the Great God Pan.

I haven’t quoted all my sources within the posts, the exceptions being where I have felt it appropriate to link back to more detailed sources or have taken information in full in the case of excerpts, Hymns and adapted tables. My sources include Theoi, Pan, God of the Groves by Hellfurian Liontari. The Cult of Pan in Ancient Greece – P Borgeaud and good old Wikipedia as well as specific sites linked in individual post.
