About Vicky

Hello Dear Reader, my name is Vicky and you will find that this blog has three main themes: Crochet, Witchcraft and Parenting.

I’ve found crochet, witchcraft and Hekate three very compatible subjects and this is the place I share some of the ways the three have worked together to change my life and magical practice. Parenting magical children also had an impact on the way I have developed as a practising Witch and some of this blog will look at how I have coped and share some of my experiences with others searching for a way through parenthood.

Who am I? What am I?

I am a Pagan without a box, I find it very hard to define myself when talking to others but generally, I introduce myself using the label “Heketean Witch” simply because I am a Witch and I am a Devotee of Hekate. and it fits. I am also, as I like to describe it, a Follower of Pan. I have been called and when I dance I dance to his tune but it with Hekate that I walk day to day.

Although I had always been a magical child my introduction to Paganism was through Scott Cunningham during my mid teens. I was very fortunate to have parents who, whilst strongly religious, were prepared to let me explore my “phase”. It has been a very long phase.

Cunningham and authors of his ilk are the starting point of my practice but my journey has drawn on my love of history and archaeology and my path has crossed many streams. In many cases I have taken in those things that were most relevant before moving on, making many good friends along the way. My journey is not over, perhaps it never will be. The path may be crooked but I am having a fun time walking it.

Most of what is written here will represent my UPG (unverified personal gnosis). At times I will have undertaken some level of research but at other times I will simply be drawing on years of practice. As a result, some of what I say may fit with “received wisdom” regarding a particular subject, other times you may find me veering off into unknown territory. This blog is part of my journey, and the various projects I undertake year to year serve to reflect on the journey and move me on to the next phase.

do you have newsletters or anything like that or should we check your site to find new things?

Hi Jane, there is no plan for a news letter at this time. The best advice I have is to either check back on a weekly basis or you can sign up for notifications via WordPress. If you sign up for email notification you’ll have a nice little weekly email letting you know something new is up and you’re not having to look weekly and be disappointed if I am late with a post or skip a week for whatever reason.
